There is nothing quite like driving a car equipped with a roaring fast engine. Unfortunately, most high-performance cars also come with a high price. That isn’t the case, however, if you choose the Dodge Challenger. For the 2019 model year, Dodge is releasing an even more powerful version of this iconic muscle car—the Challenger Hellcat Redeye.
The “Redeye” part of its name implies that is has been possessed by the Demon—a previous variant of the Challenger. Its Hellcat logo also sports red eyes.
This impressive beast is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission along with an upgraded fuel injection system and stronger pistons. Dodge says this variant of the Challenger can race to 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 mph.
You can get all of this performance for right around $70,000. Compare that output to any other competing brand and you will likely find prices with six digits. The Challenger Hellcat Redeye is available as either a standard model or a Widebody version. The Widebody model adds wider tires and fender flares to give it more road grip.
Here at Gary Wood CDJR, we eagerly await the arrival of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup (Scrambler) spy shots from MotorAuthority
The Wrangler-based Pickup Truck
No car quite captures America’s daring character and sense of adventure like the Jeep® Wrangler. This long-time favorite of automotive enthusiasts has been around since 1986, featuring a design inspired by the classic WWII-era Jeep®. For those of you who have been following all things Jeep®, you know that Jeep® announced about a year ago that they had a new vehicle in the works: a Wrangler-based pickup truck.
This April, we have the much-anticipated spy shots of the new Jeep® pickup. Beneath its covered exterior we can see the stately, distinctive Wrangler silhouette extend back to include a pickup bed. The bold and angular lines of the truck make it like no other model on the road. From these shots, it’s clear that the vehicle will offer a crew cab body configuration alongside a decent-sized bed. Our best guess is that this Wrangler-based pickup will be released for the 2019 model year, but there’s no official name for it yet. Some say that it will be named the Scrambler, while others believe it will carry the name of a previous Jeep® pickup, such as the Gladiator or original Willys Jeep® Truck.
The pickup will also most likely feature a similar interior as the Jeep® Wrangler, which means that it will have an adventurous and durable interior with state-of-the-art smartphone connectivity and entertainment technology. Upgraded powertrain options may be available as well, such as a diesel option with incredible power and capability.
Here at Gary Wood CDJR, we can’t wait until this Jeep® Wrangler Pickup model arrives on our dealership lot.
Winter is arguably the most hazardous time of year to be out on the road. If you’re out driving in winter, here are some tips and tricks for avoiding getting yourself into trouble when slick roads and extreme temperatures are involved.
…Get a comprehensive routine check-up on your vehicle. Make sure all fluids are topped off or replaced, and have your service tech fill up your tires, too.
…Have your battery tested to make sure it’s at max capacity. Low temperatures reduce its functionality.
…Keep your gas tank half-full. You never know when you’ll need fuel for an emergency.
…Have jumper cables on hand at all times.
…Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.
…Drive if you don’t have to, especially if there’s snow or ice on the ground.
…Stop. If you can, avoid stopping on hills, and perform rolling stops when possible. If your vehicle comes to a full stop on ice, it’s difficult to get rolling again.
…Take sharp or fast turns.
…Blindly trust other drivers. If you assume other drivers are competent on hazardous roads, you put yourself at risk of getting hit.
Be careful when driving in winter. If you follow this advice, you’ll be prepared for taking on most hazards during the colder months of the year. If you do need to prepare your vehicle for winter’s worst, stop by Gary Wood CDJR as soon as possible.
If you have plans to buy a new car this year, you probably want something that will give an excellent value for your money. One easy way to do that is by choosing one of the Consumer Guide best buys. This year, four FCA vehicles were included on that list: the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, 2018 Dodge Durango, 2018 Ram 1500, and 2018 Fiat 124 Spider.
“There’s a lot of good product hitting the market these days, but some designs are so well executed that they endure the test of new challengers. In the cases of the Durango and Ram, that is especially true,” said Tom Appel, Publisher of Consumer Guide Automotive. “As for the Pacifica, it’s simply one of the most thoughtfully designed family vehicles we’ve ever evaluated.”
The Pacifica won a best buy award for both the Minivan and Family Vehicle catagories for the second year in a row. The Dodge Durango won the Large SUV award for the sixth consecutive year. The Fiat 124 Spider earned top honors in the Sporty Performance Car segment for the second year. As for the Ram 1500, it was named the best Large Pickup Truck and has earned this award every year since 2008.
If you are looking for an award-winning vehicle, you can test drive many of these vehicles right here at Gary Wood Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram.
There is no denying that some places do Christmas better than others. These places go all out with decorations, festivities, and have an all-around jolly time all month long. Here are four of the best Missouri Christmas towns you should visit.
Located less than an hour away from Aurora is Springfield. Each year in early December, you can celebrate the season with the Springfield Winterfest, held in the Juanita K. Hammons Hall. There is also an annual parade, Festival of Lights, and more.
Branson is fun all year round, but at Christmastime you can enjoy An Old Time Christmas with more than five million lights, 1,000 Christmas trees, a parade, and more.
3. Lake of the Ozarks.
Towns all around the lake pull out all the stops. Visit the Enchanted Village of Lights in Laurie, or The Shrine of St. Patrick’s Festival of Lights, or the drive-through display in Osage Beach.
Catch a glimpse of the twinkling lights at the Radio Springs Lake in Nevada, Missouri. The Lights on the Lake display runs through New Year’s Day.
Which of these Missouri Christmas towns do you plan on visiting this year? Here at Gary Wood Chrysler Dodge Jeep®, we hope everyone has a very merry Christmas.
Whether it’s your first time as host or you’ve done it dozens of times, hosting a holiday can be seriously stressful. Here are our top 5 tips for hosting Thanksgiving that will help you have a smooth, fun day and keep your relatives coming back in the future.
First of all, don’t think you have to do everything alone just because you’re hosting. Especially if it’s your first time, you need all the help you can get. Delegate tasks, and let friends and relatives bring food so you’re not making every dish.
Plan ahead. Make a big list of everything that needs to get done before the guests arrive and list it all on a timeline so you can keep track of everything you have to do. You’ll be much less frazzled!
Get as much done as possible before the day starts. The turkey should be in the oven a overnight so it has time to cook, and make pies and other things that can be refrigerated a couple days ahead. You should also do any experimenting with new recipes long before Thanksgiving—you don’t want to make a dish you don’t know on the day of the dinner and have it turn out bad.
Another smart way to manage your time is to get all the non-food prep out of the way in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, like setting the table and putting up decorations. These don’t have an expiration date.
Finally, make sure you relax. Thanksgiving is about food, family, and fun, and you’re not enjoying any of those if you’re stressed. Ultimately, it’s okay if things don’t go perfectly—just enjoy one of the few days of the year the whole family gets together. The Gary Wood CDJ team wishes you a happy Thanksgiving.
